Brattain–Hadley House, Historic house in Springfield, Oregon.
The Brattain-Hadley House was a residence in the Queen Anne style, featuring asymmetrical facades and elaborate wooden decorative details. The structure occupied land in Springfield that was part of Paul Brattain's original claim and displayed characteristic design elements of late 1800s residential architecture.
The house was constructed in 1893 and remained with the Brattain family for several generations before changing hands in the 1940s. It was designed by architect John B. Innis according to the building styles of that period.
The house shows how established families in Oregon lived and built their homes in the late 1800s, with decorative wooden details and thoughtful design choices. The ornamental features reveal what people valued in their living spaces during that era.
The house no longer exists at its original location and cannot be visited today. Those interested in the architectural history of the region can find similar examples and information about local heritage in nearby museums and historical records.
The structure appeared on the National Register of Historic Places from 1995 until 2012, when it was removed from the list. This removal makes it an unusual case in how architectural heritage is documented and recognized locally.
