Cama Beach Historical State Park, Historical state park on Camano Island, United States.
Cama Beach Historical State Park is a 486-acre waterfront park located on a protected coastal area of Camano Island. It features cedar cabins, a historic boathouse, and trails that run along the Saratoga Passage.
A businessman named LeRoy Stradley built a fishing resort with about two dozen cabins on the beach in 1934. His family ran the place continuously until it closed in 1989.
The shoreline shows signs of communities that lived here for thousands of years and relied on the coast for survival. Visitors can notice traces of this long human presence in different parts of the park.
The park offers several activities such as hiking, boating, crabbing, and scuba diving for different interests. The grounds are in good condition and connect to a neighboring state park, offering more to explore.
An organization focused on wooden boats manages the historic boathouse and teaches traditional sailing techniques there. This use connects the historical location with modern learning and craft skills.
