Eleanor Ward Bridge, Road bridge in Coquitlam, Canada
Eleanor Ward Bridge is a road bridge spanning the Coquitlam River that connects the Town Centre area to the Burke Mountain neighborhood in northeast Coquitlam. The structure provides four traffic lanes, dedicated bicycle paths, sidewalks, and a shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists.
Construction started in 2004 and was completed two years later to provide a crucial link across the eastern portion of the city. The project represented a major infrastructure milestone for Coquitlam's expansion.
The bridge carries the name of Eleanor Ward, a dedicated community volunteer whose work shaped the growth of Coquitlam and remains valued by residents.
The bridge is easily accessible from both sides and provides safe routes for all users, with improved lighting throughout. Visitors can cross on foot or by bicycle and enjoy views of the river below.
At its opening, it was the largest infrastructure project the city had ever completed. The bridge marked a turning point in Coquitlam's physical expansion toward the east.
