Argonaut Peak, Mountain summit in Chelan County, United States.
Argonaut Peak is a mountain in the Stuart Range of the Cascade Mountains, located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area. The summit reaches approximately 8,453 feet and features three distinct granite peaks.
The peak remained unclimbed until September 1955, when mountaineers Lex Maxwell, Bob McCall, and Bill Prater reached the summit via the southern approach. This first ascent opened the mountain to the climbing community.
Argonaut Peak stands within the Alpine Lakes Wilderness of Wenatchee National Forest, representing the preservation of Washington State's mountain environments.
Two main routes provide access to the mountain: the Ingalls Trailhead approach from the south or the Stuart Lake Trailhead route starting near Leavenworth. Both paths require solid fitness and basic mountaineering experience.
The mountain features three summits of nearly equal height, with the western peak being the true highest point. The southeastern spire offers additional technical climbing challenges for those seeking more complex ascents.
