Disney's Mineral King Ski Resort, Unrealized ski resort project in Sequoia National Park, California.
The proposed winter sports complex included plans for a five-story hotel with 1,030 rooms, movie theater, stores, pools, ice rinks, and twenty-two ski lifts.
In December 1965, the U.S. Forest Service granted Walt Disney Productions the initial permit to establish a recreational facility in Mineral King Valley.
The Sierra Club's opposition to this development established new precedents for environmental protection and led to the formation of Earthjustice legal organization.
The project intended to accommodate 2.5 million annual visitors through a car-free system with a parking structure for 3,600 vehicles and cog railway transportation.
The Country Bear Jamboree attraction, originally designed for this resort's dining area, found its permanent home at Walt Disney World after the project's cancellation.
