Tomb of the Seven Brothers, Ottoman tomb in Stari Grad, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Tomb of the Seven Brothers is a mausoleum with seven windows surrounding an equal number of burial sites. The structure sits within the courtyard of the Čokadži hadži Sulejman Mosque and functions as a place of worship for visitors.
The tomb was established in 1815 under orders from Sulejman-pasha Skopljak after he observed unexplained luminous phenomena above the burial grounds. Protective walls were constructed around the seven graves to safeguard these sacred sites.
The site is associated with a specific devotional practice where visitors leave coins at each window and seek guidance for their personal concerns.
The site is accessible during daytime hours without advance reservations or special requirements for entry. Visitors should approach respectfully and observe the devotional practices of those present.
After visiting, local tradition involves taking a different departure path than the entry route and paying attention to the first words heard immediately afterward. These practices are deeply rooted in the site's spiritual customs.
