Glen Eyrie, Historic castle in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Glen Eyrie is a Tudor-style castle in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The residence features 24 fireplaces and houses guest rooms plus meeting spaces in several buildings on the property.
General William Jackson Palmer established the estate as a family residence in 1871 and later expanded it in English Tudor style. After his death the property passed through different hands until it was converted into a conference center in the mid-20th century.
The estate takes its name from a Scottish valley and reflects the builder's fondness for European landscapes. Today the property serves as a retreat and guest house for religious groups and travelers from around the world.
Rooms are spread across multiple buildings, including the main structure and additional lodgings nearby. Visitors can explore the public areas and should expect uneven terrain and staircases throughout.
Inside you can still find the original fire hose stations and a primitive intercom system from the construction era. These details show how technical innovations were applied in late 19th-century American manor houses.
