Club Moderne

Club Moderne is a restaurant with a curved front made of smooth Carrara glass panels, featuring inlaid wood panels, leather details, and original chromium furniture from 1937. The interior preserves its original setup with Formica tables and leather seating in henna and tan tones.

The establishment opened in 1937 under owner John Francisco, with architect Fred Willson designing it during the rise of modernism architecture. This founding period coincided with a wider movement that reshaped buildings with smooth forms and industrial materials.

The place shows the love for the machine age and smooth, straight forms that became fashionable in the 1930s. Visitors can see today how people use this style in everyday life and how the clean lines of the furniture and walls shape the way one moves and sits here.
