Butte-Anaconda Historic District

The Butte-Anaconda Historic District spans three communities in Montana and contains thousands of historical buildings connected to copper mining. In addition to mining facilities, residential neighborhoods, commercial streets, and industrial structures remain, showing the scale of this mining region.

The region emerged in the 1880s when copper mining began and grew rapidly into one of America's largest mining centers. In the early 1900s, this place shaped global copper production and made Montana a leading industrial location.
