Abbot Pass hut, Mountain shelter in Banff National Park, Canada.
Located between Mount Victoria and Mount Lefroy at 2,926 meters elevation, this stone structure marks the boundary between Banff and Yoho National Parks.
Swiss guides constructed the refuge in 1922 for the Canadian Alpine Association, carrying materials on horseback across Victoria Glacier to the building site.
The refuge received recognition as a National Historic Site in 1992 and became a Classified Federal Heritage Building of Canada in 1999.
The upper floor contained 24 sleeping spaces, with wood stoves for heating and propane systems supporting cooking and lighting needs.
The structure stood as the second-highest permanent habitation in Canada until its demolition in 2022 due to geological instability from glacier melting.
