Takakkaw Falls, Waterfall in Yoho National Park, Canada.

Takakkaw Falls is a waterfall in Yoho National Park where glacial meltwater drops over multiple rocky tiers. The water tumbles down through a narrow valley and creates a spectacular display of spray and mist.

The waterfall became part of Yoho National Park in 1886 when the park was established. The area has been known and valued by local Indigenous peoples for far longer.

The name comes from Cree language, honoring the Indigenous peoples who knew this landscape. Visitors stand at the edge of the cliff and feel the mist rising from the rocks below.

The trail is open from May through October and starts from a parking area near the base. Water flow is strongest in late spring and early summer when mountain snow melts rapidly.

Water feeds into the falls from a large glacial field high in the mountains above, ensuring continuous flow through summer. This means the waterfall remains powerful even during dry periods.
