Crowfoot Glacier, Alpine glacier in Banff National Park, Canada

The glacier extends 1.5 kilometers along the northeastern side of Crowfoot Mountain, forming part of the Rocky Mountains landscape.

The glacier received its name from early explorers who observed three distinct ice segments resembling a crow's foot, though the lower section melted in 1940.

Scientists monitor the changes of Crowfoot Glacier to understand climate patterns and water resources in the Canadian Rocky Mountains region.

Visitors can observe the glacier from designated viewpoints along the Icefields Parkway, 32 kilometers northwest of Lake Louise.

Water from Crowfoot Glacier flows into Bow Lake, creating mineral-rich streams that contribute to the Bow River system.
