Mount Temple

Mount Temple stands as the second-highest peak in the Lake Louise area of the Canadian Rockies. The summit offers views of deep lakes, dense forests, and snow-covered neighboring peaks.

The first documented ascent took place in the late 1800s by surveyors and explorers. The peak went on to play an important role in the history of alpine exploration in western Canada.

The mountain was named in honor of a notable visitor from the 19th century. The area around the summit remains an important destination for climbers and hikers who journey from across the globe.

Trails to Moraine Lake are popular, but visitors should know that group sizes of at least four people are recommended. Weather can shift quickly here, so proper gear and an early start during the day matter.

Temperature differences between Moraine Lake and the summit can exceed 20 degrees Celsius. Climbers must prepare for several weather conditions that vary significantly from one another.
