The Grand Hotel is a brick and stone building located on McLeod Street in downtown Big Timber, Montana. It features detailed brickwork patterns, sandstone window frames, a dining room for sixty guests, and forty sleeping rooms.
The hotel was built in 1890 and financed by sheep rancher Jacob Halverson during a period when the Northern Pacific Railroad spurred growth in the region. In 1908, the building survived a major fire that destroyed many nearby businesses, thanks to its sturdy brick and stone construction.
The building is centrally located on McLeod Street in Big Timber and easy to find on foot. The area around it is quiet and surrounded by open fields, making it a pleasant place to visit at a relaxed pace.
