RCAF Station Mossbank, Military training base in Mossbank, Saskatchewan, Canada
RCAF Station Mossbank was a military training base in Saskatchewan located near Old Wives Lake. The facility had three paved runways and sat at 2,320 feet elevation on flat terrain suitable for flight operations.
The base operated from October 1940 to December 1944, training more than 2,500 air bombers and over 3,700 air gunners during this period. This training was part of a major Allied air force development program during World War Two.
The base offered military personnel recreational facilities such as a swimming pool, bowling alley, and theatre. These spaces shaped daily life and created gathering places for personnel between training sessions.
The site is located in open, flat terrain which offers good visibility when exploring. Since this is a historical location, visitors should be prepared to explore independently and watch for uneven ground.
One of the original hangars was moved to Regina and converted into the Turvey Centre, a community venue. The building now hosts events and cultural programs far from its original military purpose.
