CN Tower, Office skyscraper in downtown Edmonton, Canada
The CN Tower is an office building with 26 floors rising about 111 meters (364 feet) in downtown Edmonton. The structure displays International Style design with clean geometric forms and contains approximately 254,000 square feet (23,600 square meters) of office space.
This skyscraper was completed in 1966 as Edmonton's first high-rise building. It held the title of Western Canada's tallest structure until 1971 when another tower surpassed it in height.
The Canadian National Railway headquarters represents the transformation of Edmonton from a railway town into a major urban center during the post-war period.
The building is served by eight elevators providing access throughout the structure. Visitors can enter the lobby to see the clean architectural style that defined this era of construction.
The building experienced substantial damage during a severe thunderstorm in 2009, resulting in falling debris that affected vehicles at its base.
