Rogers Place, Indoor arena in downtown Edmonton, Canada
Rogers Place is a multi-storey hall in downtown Edmonton, Canada, used for hockey matches, concerts and other large gatherings. The facility holds several tiers of seating, food outlets and modern technical installations that adapt sound and visuals for different event formats.
Construction work started in March 2014, and the opening took place in September 2016 after more than two years spent raising the foundation, steel frame and interior fittings. The new hall replaced the older Rexall Place as home ground for hockey teams and brought additional commercial development to the surrounding area.
The building carries the name of a Canadian telecommunications company and serves as home ground for the Oilers and Oil Kings, two teams whose game days draw thousands of supporters into downtown streets. The city's hockey tradition shows itself on match evenings, when fans wearing jerseys fill the surrounding blocks and cheer together for their clubs.
Entry and security checks can take longer before major events, so arriving earlier helps reach seats without rushing. The hall offers step-free access, and lifts connect all levels to surrounding streets and parking options.
The construction triggered the creation of a larger city district known as Ice District, which gathers offices, housing, restaurants and public squares around the hall. This neighborhood has turned the area around the building into a busy hub that draws visitors even outside event days.
