The Mattie Beal House is a Colonial Revival residence in Lawton featuring symmetrical facades and classical architectural details throughout its design. The two-story structure includes a covered portico for vehicles and an attached garage building.

The house was built between 1907 and 1909 and belonged to Martha Helen Beal, who won the second prize in the 1901 land lottery for Kiowa-Comanche-Apache territories. Its construction occurred during a period of rapid growth for the newly established town.

The house served as a gathering place for social events in early Lawton, where the Payne family hosted visitors and entertained guests. These occasions helped shape the social life of the developing city.

The property is maintained by the Lawton Heritage Association, which offers guided tours to explore the architectural features and historical artifacts. Visitors should inquire ahead about tour availability and current access conditions.

After winning the lottery, Martha Beal received over 500 marriage proposals from suitors worldwide. This remarkable response reflects the fascination her win generated at the time.
