Southern Plains Indian Museum, Native American museum in Anadarko, Oklahoma, United States

The Southern Plains Indian Museum is an art museum in Anadarko that collects and displays objects from the region's tribal communities. The exhibits feature clothing, weapons, jewelry, household items, and contemporary artistic works.

The museum was founded in 1948 as a result of a partnership between the US federal government and Oklahoma state. The facility was created from a desire to preserve the artistic and cultural traditions of the Plains peoples for future generations.

The museum's name comes from the Southern Plains tribes of western Oklahoma, and its galleries show clothing, dance regalia, jewelry, household objects and weaponry alongside paintings. Dioramas painted by Allan Houser and original works by T. C. Cannon are held in the permanent collection, which also includes pieces by Blackbear Bosin, Stephen Mopope and Dick West.

The museum opens Tuesdays through Fridays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is closed on weekends. Since 1977 it has run free educational tours for Oklahoma school groups studying Plains cultures, arranged in advance. The ten-acre park next door, holding the National Hall of Fame for Famous American Indians, is reached from the museum grounds.
