Oklahoma Christian University, Private Christian university in Edmond, United States
Oklahoma Christian University is a private college spread across 240 acres in a suburban setting with more than 30 buildings on its grounds. The buildings reflect International and Mid-Century modern architectural design and create a coherent academic environment.
The institution was founded in 1950 as Central Christian College in Bartlesville before moving to Oklahoma City in 1958. Full accreditation came in 1965 and established it as a recognized educational institution.
The chapel serves as a gathering place where students meet regularly for spiritual services and community events throughout the week. These gatherings shape daily life on campus and create a strong sense of belonging among those studying here.
The university maintains small class sizes with most classes having fewer than 30 students and a ratio of 13 students per instructor. This arrangement enables more personal learning relationships and individual support during instruction.
The university started in 1950 with just 97 students and has grown significantly since then. Its commitment to technology shows in a laptop program for students that has existed since 2001 and gained international recognition.
