Oklahoma's 2nd congressional district, Federal electoral district in Eastern Oklahoma, United States.
Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District is a federal electoral district spanning 24 counties in the eastern region, bordering Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. The area covers more than one-fourth of the state and includes urban centers, farmland, forests, and diverse communities living across this expansive territory.
The district came into being following Oklahoma's statehood in 1907 and remained under Democratic representation for most of the 20th century. A significant political shift toward Republican candidates began in the 1990s and has continued since.
The district encompasses territories of four Native American nations—Choctaw, Cherokee, Creek, and Chickasaw—whose communities maintain cultural centers and gather for powwows throughout the year. These nations form a visible and active part of the region's daily identity.
Voters throughout the district hold elections every two years to select their representative, with registration information and polling locations managed by the Oklahoma State Election Board. Most polling places are located in county seats and smaller towns, which may mean traveling some distance for residents in rural areas.
In the 2020 election, the district voted at a 76 percent rate for Republican candidates, making it the most Republican-leaning congressional district in Oklahoma. This high percentage reflects deep local support for conservative political approaches.
