Embassy of Australia, Paris, Australian diplomatic mission in 15th arrondissement, Paris, France
The diplomatic mission consists of two nine-story buildings with granite facades on Rue Jean Rey, positioned approximately 1,300 feet (400 meters) from the Eiffel Tower in the 15th arrondissement.
Australia acquired the site in 1972 from former railway depot land, commissioning architectural firm Peddle Thorp and Walker to design the complex, which opened for diplomatic operations in 1977.
The embassy houses a public exhibition space displaying Australian paintings, photographs and sporting memorabilia throughout the year, promoting cultural exchange between France and Australia.
Consular services including passport and notarial assistance require appointments booked through the embassy website. Visitors must present valid identification at security upon arrival. The nearest metro station is Bir-Hakeim, approximately 1,000 feet (300 meters) away.
The International Energy Agency established its global headquarters within the complex in 1996, occupying multiple floors of the modernist buildings for its worldwide energy policy activities.
