Governor's Beach

Governor's Beach is a coastal resort between Limassol and Larnaca with dark sand and white chalk cliffs that slope into the sea. The 2-kilometer shoreline features natural rock formations that create small coves and sheltered swimming areas along the water.

The beach took its name from British colonial officials who chose this location as a retreat during their administration of Cyprus. This naming reflects how such coastal spots served as gathering places for the ruling classes during the colonial period.

Seafood tavernas dot the waterfront, serving catch-of-the-day meals that reflect the fishing heritage of this coastal region.

The beach has lifeguards on duty from April through October, along with changing facilities and showers available to visitors. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available to rent, and the location is easily reached from the main road connecting the two cities.

The shoreline holds numerous small coves shaped by wave-carved rocks that form natural pools perfect for snorkeling. These sheltered spots were carved by natural erosion and offer visitors quieter alternatives to the sandier main beach areas.
