Gunung Leuser National Park
Gunung Leuser National Park, National park in North Sumatra, Indonesia.
The park stretches across 7927 square kilometers of dense rainforest, encompassing rivers, mountains, and lowland forests between North Sumatra and Aceh provinces.
The Indonesian government established Gunung Leuser National Park in 1980, leading to its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
Local communities around the park maintain traditional practices while participating in conservation efforts through guided tours and environmental education programs.
Visitors access the park mainly through Bukit Lawang, where professional guides lead treks ranging from one-day walks to extended wilderness expeditions.
The national park contains both Rafflesia arnoldii and Amorphophallus titanum, recognized as the largest and tallest flowers on Earth.
