Pforzheimer Hütte, Mountain hut in Stubai Alps, Austria.
The Pforzheimer Hütte sits at 2308 meters elevation in the Stubai Alps and connects three valleys: Ötztal, Sellraintal, and Stubaital. The building accommodates about 60 people and has sleeping areas as well as shower facilities.
The hut was built in 1926 and immediately became an important resting point for mountaineers exploring the Stubai Alps. Over nearly a century it has continuously supported people on their journeys through this region.
The hut keeps mountain traditions alive by preparing meals with local recipes and inviting guests to dine together. This way of sharing meals reflects how such shelters have long served as meeting places for people from the surrounding valleys.
The hike up from St. Sigmund im Sellrain takes about 2.5 hours and is the main route to reach the hut. The location is relatively accessible, which means day-trippers often pass through.
The hut earned environmental certification in 2016 and is regarded as one of the more sustainable operations in the area. This commitment shows in daily decisions to protect the surrounding mountain landscape.
