Sacred Heart Church, Parish church in Donaustadt, Vienna, Austria

Sacred Heart Church (Pfarrkirche Kaisermühlen) is a Roman Catholic basilica in Kaisermühlen, Donaustadt, built from 1885 to 1895. Alois von Erlach designed it as an Italian Renaissance basilica with a nave and two aisles separated by six columns each; two columns come from the burnt Ringtheater. Victor Luntz simplified the plans. The north tower was added in 1966 by Erwin Plevan.

Kaisermühlen belonged to Leopoldstadt after 1850, and the Danube regulation of 1870–1875 cut it off from the parish church of St. Nepomuk. In 1884 Karl Ryba, catechist and co-operator there, founded a church building association; the city provided 1725 m² on Schüttauplatz. The foundation stone was laid on 24 April 1887, and Cardinal Gruscha consecrated the basilica on 28 April 1895 in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I.

The Herz-Jesu-Fest was first celebrated here on 10 June 1888, before the building was finished, and the first Fronleichnamsprozession followed in 1889. The Salvatorianer order took over pastoral care of the new parish. Since 1 April 2020 the church has belonged, with Donaucity-Kirche and Bruckhaufen-St. Elisabeth, to the parish Maria Magdalena an der alten Donau.

The church stands on Schüttauplatz in Kaisermühlen, in Vienna's 22nd district. The tower is on the north side, added in 1966; the planned east-side campanile was never built. The organ by Rieger Orgelbau, with 40 registers on three manuals and pedal, was unplayable as of 2026. Since 1 April 2020 the parish has belonged to the joint parish Maria Magdalena an der alten Donau.

Two of the six columns separating the nave from the aisles came from the Ringtheater, which burned down in 1881. The planned east-side campanile was never built; the present north tower dates only from 1966, built to plans by Erwin Plevan. The 1908 Rieger organ from Jägerdorf (now Krnov) has 40 stops on three manuals and pedal, and as of 2026 it cannot be played.
