IZD Tower, Office tower in Donaustadt, Austria
The IZD Tower is a 41-story office building in Vienna that rises 140 meters high. Its design combines a glass-enclosed central atrium with a lower base building, creating two distinct sections connected by the tower's main structure.
Construction began in November 1998 and finished in August 2001. The completed building marked a turning point in Vienna's commercial district expansion.
The top floor houses the US Mission to the United Nations, not a set of international organizations. In 2013 suspicions arose that a National Security Agency listening post there could monitor the UNO City only 40 metres away; in September 2014 photos of special structures on the roof reached the press. Since 2005 a stair run is held every September, climbing to the 34th or 35th floor, about 630 steps, with a record of 3:07.20 minutes in 2014.
The building has 14 elevators distributed throughout to help people move between floors efficiently. An underground parking garage with four levels offers space for approximately 450 vehicles.
