Tech Gate Vienna, Technology park in Donaustadt district, Vienna, Austria
Tech Gate Vienna is a modern building complex in Donaustadt consisting of two structures that form one of the tallest landmarks in this newly developed urban area. The site accommodates multiple research facilities, offices, and conference spaces all in one central location.
The complex was designed and built between 1999 and 2005 by architects Wilhelm Holzbauer and Sepp Frank. Its completion marked an important step in transforming this area into a modern research and technology hub.
The complex hosts the Austrian Institute of Technology, the Telecommunications Research Center Vienna (FTW) and the VRVis Research Center, alongside numerous companies and start-ups. Four stages inside the buildings are used for technology-related events.
The site features several conference rooms and laboratory facilities located at Donau-City-Straße 1 and is easily accessible. The location sits within a newly developed urban area with ample parking and good public transportation connections.
The Gate section, built 1999–2001, rises about 26 metres over seven floors with 36,000 m² of gross floor area; the Tower followed in 2004–2005 at roughly 75 metres and 19 floors. The operating company is shared by the Vienna Holding, the FFG research agency and WPWS.
