Schloss Glanegg, Grödig, Medieval castle in Grödig, Austria

Schloss Glanegg stands on a wooded hill at 482 meters elevation, featuring a rectangular design with three stories and a central tower projection.

The castle, first documented around 1350 as an archbishopric seat, functioned as a district court overseeing territories along the Salzach River.

The structure represents Austrian architectural traditions through its steep gable roof, modified in 1920, and its integration with surrounding park landscapes.

The castle remains under private ownership by the Mayr-Melnhof family since 1896 and maintains restricted access policies for visitors.

The castle forms part of a historical flood control system designed during Paris Lodron's reign to protect Salzburg's hinterland.
