Salzburger Hochthron

Salzburger Hochthron is a mountain peak at the Austrian-German border near Grödig, standing at 1,852 meters with exposed limestone formations. The peak is part of the Untersberg massif and is accessed by multiple established trails suited to different skill levels.

The peak served as a natural boundary between Austria and Germany following the territorial agreements of 1816 after the Napoleonic Wars. This border location shaped the mountain's identity throughout the following centuries.

The summit cross marks a traditional focal point where locals and visitors pause to appreciate the mountain's role in regional identity. This symbolic marker connects climbers to the area's faith-based heritage.
