Shirvan

Shirvan is a city in Azerbaijan located along the Kura River valley. The urban area contains residential neighborhoods, commercial zones, and industrial facilities that form the core of daily activity.

The settlement originated in the 19th century under a different name before receiving city status in 1963. A renaming several decades later reflected the changing identity and development priorities of the growing urban center.

The population consists of 98.5 percent Azerbaijanis, with Russians, Ukrainians, Tatars, and Turks forming smaller communities within the urban environment.

Visitors find basic services including shops, restaurants, and local transportation throughout the city. Spring and autumn offer the most comfortable conditions for exploring the area on foot or by local transport.

Archaeological findings in the surrounding area reveal traces of ancient craft workshops and trading routes that show continuous settlement over centuries. These discoveries offer insights into the economic connections that once tied this place to distant regions.
