Visočica, Mountain summit in central Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Visočica is a mountain summit in the Dinaric Alps that rises to 767 meters and consists primarily of limestone and dolomite rock formations. These sedimentary rock types shape the appearance of the slopes and surrounding terrain.
The mountain area remained largely unaffected by the 1992 to 1995 conflict, with minimal mine risk in certain zones. This relatively peaceful history allowed the landscape to preserve both its natural and cultural characteristics over time.
Medieval stone grave markers called stećci from the 14th and 15th centuries dot the landscape here. Some of these monuments carry rare Bosnian Cyrillic inscriptions, particularly visible at the Poljice site.
The climbing route begins at Mountain Lodge Vrela in Tušila, from where marked trails connect to several surrounding peaks. Different pathways allow visitors to choose routes based on their fitness level and available time.
Unlike typical karst mountains, this summit has abundant water sources between 1500 and 1700 meters in elevation. These sources form seasonal lakes during spring months, which is unusual for this type of terrain.
