Keraniganj Upazila

Keraniganj Upazila is an administrative district located southwest of central Dhaka along the Buriganga River. The area spans roughly 166 square kilometers (64 square miles) and is home to over one million residents who depend on two main bridges to cross into central Dhaka.

The district earned its name during the Mughal period when clerical staff and soldiers were stationed here under the rule of Nawab Shaista Khan. This administrative significance continued to shape the area's development into a major urban center.

The Doleshwar Hanafia Jame Mosque, recognized by UNESCO, stands as a notable religious and architectural landmark. Its design reflects the spiritual life and building traditions of the local Muslim community.
