Église Saint-André de Liège, Parish church in Place du Marché, Liège, Belgium
Church of Saint-André is located at Place du Marché in Liège and features a central plan with six radiating apsidal chapels. The structure is topped by an imperial dome with a curved summit and concave sides.
The building was completed in 1772 and replaced an earlier structure belonging to the Teutonic Order since 1261. The French Revolution ended the Order's religious connection to the site.
The interior displays neoclassical stucco work with paired Corinthian pilasters, apostle figures, and groups of cherubs created by sculptor A.P. Franck. These decorations shape the visual character of the space.
The building is open to visitors but not always accessible, so it is best to check local conditions before visiting. Access is from Place du Marché, a central square in the old town.
A chronogram above the first-floor window contains the inscription "Delparae aC anDreae/ CoeLo proVIDente eXtrVcta", where capital letters spell out the construction year 1772. This hidden dating method was a clever practice of the period.
