Rawni czał, Mountain summit in Rila, Bulgaria.
Rawni czal is a mountain summit in the eastern part of the Rila range in Bulgaria, reaching 2637 meters in elevation. It has the form of a broad grassy dome with two distinct peak points marked by triangulation stones.
The northeastern slope contains a glacial cirque with steep rock walls that was carved out during the last ice age by moving glaciers. These dramatic formations show how ice shaped the mountain landscape over thousands of years.
The summit serves as a landmark for hikers traveling the marked winter route that connects two major mountain huts in the Rila range. Walkers often pause here to get their bearings and enjoy views across the surrounding peaks before continuing their journey.
Hikers can reach the summit in about 3 hours starting from Belmeken sports base, or in about 1.5 hours from the nearby Belmeken hut. The route is marked by winter pole signs that serve as navigation guides along the way.
Below the peak at 2222 meters sits a glacial lake with crystal-clear water, nestled near Belmeken hut. This water body offers a striking contrast to the rocky cirque above and is often overlooked by hikers focused on reaching the summit.
