Benkovski is a mountain summit in the Sredna Gora range standing at 1186 meters elevation with steep slopes covered by beech and hornbeam forests. Dense woodland surrounds the peak on all sides, creating a heavily forested landscape.
During the April Uprising of 1876, Bulgarian revolutionaries built a fortified military camp on the peak to advance their cause. Ottoman forces later destroyed the camp, leaving only scattered remains.
The Saint Ascension Monastery, established in 1885, stands near the peak and serves as a center for religious practices and traditions.
Hiking trails to the peak start from Mirovo village or Momin Prohod town, providing several routes for visitors. You can choose different access points depending on your starting location and hiking experience.
