CFB Montreal, Military base in Montreal, Canada
CFB Montreal is a Canadian Forces military installation that operates across two main sectors in the north and south parts of the city. These sectors are linked by Notre-Dame Street and serve as the headquarters for military operations in the region.
The installation was created in 1994 when several Canadian Forces bases in Montreal and Saint-Jean were merged together. In 1998, it joined with CFB Valcartier to form a larger unified command structure.
The base functions as a workplace where military personnel and civilian employees interact daily, creating a mixed community with its own social rhythms. Visitors can observe how two distinct groups coexist and collaborate within the same institutional space.
Access to the base is restricted and requires special permission for visitors. It is best to contact the facility in advance if you are planning a visit to the site.
Building 42, an administration structure completed in 1941, is registered in Canada's national historic places list. The structure reflects military construction standards and design from the early 1940s period.
