University of Winnipeg, Public research university in downtown Winnipeg, Canada.
The University of Winnipeg is a public research university in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba. It consists of several buildings, including Wesley Hall with its limestone facade and additional teaching facilities spread across multiple blocks.
The institution formed in 1967 through the merger of Manitoba College and Wesley College, which had operated independently since the late nineteenth century. Wesley Hall was constructed in 1895 and has served as a central building ever since.
Students gather in the library and common areas for group study and informal meetings throughout the academic year. The campus blends modern learning facilities with older limestone buildings across several city blocks.
Visitors should check ahead about access to individual buildings, as entry may be limited outside of regular term periods. The campus is centrally located and easy to reach on foot or by public transport.
Every student must complete a course on Indigenous topics to better understand First Nations perspectives. The campus has hosted the Duckworth Great Rock Climb for 67 years, where teams compete to scale a large boulder formation.
