Canada Square Complex, Office complex in Yonge and Eglinton, Toronto, Canada
Canada Square Complex is a group of three connected office towers on Yonge Street near Eglinton Avenue in Toronto, Ontario. The buildings have glass and metal facades with rectangular forms typical of mid-20th century office architecture.
The first tower was built in the early 1960s, a period when Toronto was expanding rapidly after the Second World War. The remaining buildings followed over the next two decades, each matching the original architectural approach.
The buildings showcase International Style architecture through their rectangular forms, glass facades, and minimalist design elements characteristic of modernist principles.
The complex sits directly above Eglinton subway station, so arriving by public transit is straightforward. The surrounding streets are easy to navigate on foot, and the buildings connect well to the sidewalks around them.
Canadian Tire, one of the country's best-known retailers, has its corporate headquarters inside this complex. The company takes up a large share of the office space, which gives the buildings a strong connection to one of Canada's oldest retail brands.
