Mountain Secondary School, Public secondary school in Hamilton, Canada.
Mountain Secondary School was a secondary institution in Hamilton serving grades 9 to 12 with specialized programs including transportation, cosmetology, hospitality, building maintenance, and cabinetmaking across multiple facilities. The school also offered English as a Second Language instruction and special education support for students with diverse learning needs.
The school originated as Caledon Girls Junior Vocational School in 1967 and merged with Crestwood Secondary School in 1995 to become Mountain Secondary School. This consolidation created a larger institution with expanded educational offerings for its student population.
The educational facility provided English as a Second Language classes and special education programs while hosting events that connected students from different backgrounds.
The school occupied 60 Caledon Avenue until 2017 and featured cooperative education opportunities aligned with industry standards for hands-on career preparation. Students gained practical experience in skilled trades through partnerships with local employers.
After closing in 2017, the former school building served as a filming location for the movie Killer High before becoming a mixed-income housing development. This transformation shows how old school buildings are repurposed in urban communities.
