Polson Pier, Entertainment complex in Port Lands, Toronto, Canada
Polson Pier is a waterfront leisure complex in the Port Lands area of Toronto, sitting along Toronto Harbour on the northern shore of Lake Ontario. The site brings together a large nightclub, concert spaces, an outdoor pool, and beach sports courts, all arranged across an open waterfront lot.
The site once served as an industrial shipping area, part of the working port that defined Toronto's Port Lands for much of the 20th century. It was redeveloped into a leisure venue in the late 1990s as the city began opening up its waterfront to public uses.
Polson Pier draws a young crowd looking for live concerts and outdoor parties by the water, especially on summer weekends. The mix of beach volleyball courts and nightlife venues gives the place a casual, social feel that is hard to find elsewhere on the Toronto waterfront.
The complex is in Port Lands, at the southern edge of Toronto near the waterfront, and can be reached by public transit or by car, with parking on site. Outdoor areas like the pool and sports courts are best enjoyed during the day, while the club and concert events run into the evening and night.
During the Toronto International Film Festival in 2020, the large parking lot on the site was converted into a drive-in cinema for outdoor screenings and live performances. It was one of the few places in the city large enough and close enough to the water to host that kind of event.
