Morris House, Colonial residence in North End, Halifax, Canada
Morris House stands as a wooden residence at 2500 Creighton Street, featuring construction techniques from the late eighteenth century.
Built in 1764, the structure served as the office of Charles Morris, the surveyor general, and remained in the Morris family for four generations.
The interior reveals nineteenth-century decorative elements, including specific inorganic pigments in paints and wallpaper containing lead and barium sulfate compounds.
The building relocated from 1273 Hollis Street to its current location in 2013 through preservation efforts by the Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia.
Dendrochronological research on the wooden structure confirms its status as the oldest wooden residence in Halifax, dating to 1764.
