Hohtälli, Mountain summit in Valais, Switzerland
Hohtälli is a mountain summit in the Swiss Pennine Alps, positioned between the Findel Glacier and Gorner Glacier at an elevation of 3,273 meters. A cable car station at the peak allows visitors to reach the summit, while marked trails guide hikers on established routes during the warmer months.
A cable car system connecting this location to Rote Nase was constructed between 1985 and 1987, opening the area for winter sports. The project linked ski runs across the Zermatt region into an integrated network.
The location serves as a hub where skiers and hikers transition between different routes across the Zermatt region. The infrastructure allows visitors to access multiple valleys and glaciers from this central vantage point.
Access is easiest by cable car from the valley below, with the ride taking just a few minutes to reach the summit. In summer, hikers can explore the surroundings on well-maintained trails, while the area shifts to winter sports focus during colder months.
The valley station here sits at a higher elevation than the summit station of neighboring Rote Nase, creating an unusual geographical arrangement. This allows visitors to move between different points and gain fresh perspectives on the surrounding alpine landscape.
