Chutes de la Métché

Chutes de la Métché is a waterfall in the Western Highlands of Cameroon near Bafoussam that drops approximately 40 meters over rocky terrain. The cascading water flows across multiple stone layers and collects in natural pools at different elevations along its descent.

The waterfall has long been part of the landscape around Bafoussam and has drawn people from surrounding settlements over many generations. It remains a natural site that has maintained its place in the region throughout Cameroon's history.

The waterfall serves as a gathering place where local people come together for celebrations and important communal events. It holds meaning in the social life of the region and the traditions that connect people to the land.

To reach the waterfall, follow marked trails from Bafoussam that lead through the highland terrain. The dry season offers better trail conditions and clearer water visibility, making it easier to navigate and appreciate the falls.

As the water descends, it creates flowing patterns across numerous rock layers, producing changing visual effects depending on water levels. The series of stacked pools form naturally through erosion over time rather than being artificially made.
