Village vacances de Bangou, holiday village in Cameroon
Village vacances de Bangou is a holiday resort in western Cameroon with bungalows, ponds, botanical gardens, and enclosures for animals such as horses, antelopes, and buffalo. The grounds spread across a hillside with artificial waterfalls, several small pools, and planted pathways that guide visitors through diverse landscape scenes.
The site was founded in 2015 by local entrepreneur Francis Nana Djomou and grew into one of the country's largest holiday villages. The project was conceived as a retreat designed to showcase local culture and nature while offering visitors a peaceful experience.
The village displays architecture and traditions of the Bamiléké community through replicas of local houses built with traditional materials. Visitors can explore these structures and experience the craftsmanship and cultural identity of the region firsthand.
The site sits on a hillside about 1,400 meters (4,600 feet) high near Dschang and the Bana valley. Visitors can walk the grounds independently, arrange guided tours to visit museums and traditional farms, or simply relax along the planted pathways between gardens and animal areas.
The village features life-size models of giraffes, elephants, and crocodiles placed so naturally into the landscape that visitors are often surprised to discover them. This creative design blends real natural elements with a playful interpretation of African wildlife.
