Linxia City is a city in southwestern Gansu Province and capital of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture with roughly 370,000 residents. It has narrow streets, older buildings, busy markets, and new modern structures being built gradually, creating a mixed picture of traditional and contemporary elements throughout the urban landscape.
Linxia has been a meeting point for different ethnic groups for many centuries, with names like Han, Daohe, and Hezhou marking different historical eras.
