Alexandra House, Commercial skyscraper in Central and Western District, Hong Kong
Alexandra House is a glass and steel office tower in Central, the main business district of Hong Kong. The building rises over thirty floors and its lower levels are given over to shops and restaurants, while the upper floors are used as office space.
A building has stood on this site since 1904, and the current tower was completed in 1976 as the third structure to be built here. Over those decades, the site grew from an early commercial address into one of the most central office locations in Hong Kong.
The lower floors are lined with high-end shops and restaurants that draw office workers and visitors throughout the day. This mix of dining and retail gives the building a busy street-level energy that feels typical of Central Hong Kong.
The building is a short walk from Central MTR station and connects to the elevated walkway network that links many buildings in the area, making it easy to move around without stepping outside. First-time visitors should follow the walkway signs to get a sense of how the district fits together.
The Landmark Alexandra section of the building brings together several restaurants that have been awarded Michelin stars, which is rare for a commercial tower. This means that some of Hong Kong's most recognized dining rooms sit just above street-level shops in an everyday office building.
