Taiyuan

Taiyuan is the capital of Shanxi Province in northern China, sitting at roughly 800 meters elevation in a basin crossed by the Fen River. The city sprawls through several districts such as Xiaodian, Yingze, and Xinghualing, where modern residential blocks stand alongside industrial zones and parks.

The settlement was originally called Yanggu and grew into an important military base during the Northern Jin Dynasty. Over the centuries, rulers and names changed, yet the place retained its strategic position in the region.
