Pingyao County, County with ancient walled city in Jinzhong, China
Pingyao County covers 1,260 square kilometers in central Shanxi Province, with the Fen River flowing through its territory and Baota Mountain reaching 1,895 meters.
The territory dates back to 800 BCE and contains numerous Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, including 20 financial institutions that managed China's silver trade.
The county features the Shuanglin Temple, which houses 2,000 painted clay sculptures from various Chinese dynasties between 960 and 1912.
The county maintains three subdistricts, five towns, and nine townships, connected by the Datong-Puzhou railway and National Highway 108.
The ancient city walls, constructed in 1370, form a 6,163-meter perimeter with watchtowers and defensive structures that remain intact today.
