Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, Cruise terminal in Kowloon City District, Hong Kong
Kai Tak Cruise Terminal is a four-story cruise facility in Kowloon City District with expansive glass windows overlooking Victoria Harbour and the city skyline. The complex has two ship berths for vessels up to 360 meters long, along with retail areas and immigration processing facilities.
The terminal opened in 2014 on the site of Kai Tak Airport's former runway, which served as Hong Kong's main aviation hub until 1998. This repurposing of the historic airfield as a cruise port marked a shift in the city's transportation infrastructure.
The building displays how shipping shaped Hong Kong through rotating exhibitions featuring historical objects and photographs related to maritime trade.
The terminal is clearly marked and visitors should expect wait times during departure hours. Arriving early and following directional signage helps with moving through the different sections smoothly.
The rooftop contains a large garden with a central lawn, water features, and viewing spots that attract photographers. This public space lets visitors step away and take in the harbor views during their terminal time.
